Zumindest in den USA scheint die Urban Fantasy weiter zu boomen. Mit “Dark Currents” ist in Übersee gerade der Auftakt einer neuen Serie von Jacqueline Carey (“Kushiel“-Saga) erschienen.
Im Mittelpunkt der Reihe steht die Tochter eines Incubus’, die als Beauftragte der nordischen Göttin Hel für ein gutes Zusammenleben der paranormalen und menschlichen Bevölkerung des Ortes, an dem sie lebt, sorgen muss. Und dafür bei einem Fall mit ihrer Jugendflamme zusammen arbeiten muss.
Carey erfindet also das Rad nicht neu, sondern scheint sich gängiger Urban Fantasy-Versatzstücke zu bedienen. Da die Autorin aber durchaus eine gute Schreibe hat, ist “Dark Currents” vermutlich zumindest einen Blick wert.
Die Inhaltsbeschreibung lt. Amazon liest sich dann so:

Mich juckt es ja sehr, mir wenigstens das erste Kushiel zuzulegen und das obwohl ich weiß, dass die Übersetzung eingestellt worden ist.
Die neue Geschichte klingt auch nach etwas, das ich auf jeden Fall lesen würde, aber wenn es reine Urban Fantasy ist, wird das in Deutschland wohl schwierig …
